Praktikum : Video Analysis Algorithm Performance Evaluation Platform (Frankreich,Paris)

Hallo zusammen,

im Forschungszentrum "Kommissariat für Kernenergie und alternative Energien" (Commissariat à l’énergie atomique abgekuerzt CEA) ist ab sofort eine neue Praktikumstelle offen. Im folgenden beschreibe ich kurz CEA selbst sowie die zu vergebende Stelle (auf Englisch) :

Lab presentation
=================
CEA-LIST is a research institute of about 600 people, located in Saclay, south of Paris, focused in developing and transferring to industry software-based systems.
The 45 engineers and researchers affiliated with CEA LIST Vision & Content Engineering Laboratory (www.kalisteo.eu) work on multimedia and multilingual data analysis and understanding, with a focus on fast growing and large public application domains.
Four main scientific themes are addressed in the lab:
- 3D perception and mobility: computer vision driven 3D reconstruction for dimensional control and 3D location for augmented reality applications, as well as for image based geo-location.
- Video analysis: for video surveillance applications and, more generally, for video assistance systems (pedestrian detection for driver assistance, disabled persons monitoring).
- Text mining: semantic analysis of multilingual documents for indexing, retrieval, technological watch and filtering applications.
- Multimedia fusion: multimodal information extraction and retrieval over large databases, as well as for mobile applications.
The laboratory established trusted partnerships with major companies, SMEs and start-ups in order to transfer innovation to industry.
Our lab is involved in many national and European R&D projects in which it develops real-time video analytics integrating advanced vision techniques of background modeling, object classification and tracking. These projects are guided by end-user needs and most often done in collaboration with major industrial integrators (Thales, Alstom, SNCF, RATP, Bombardier…).

Objective
==========
We are looking for intern to support the development of a performance evaluation platform that will be used to evaluate our video analysis algorithms continuously. This platform is composed of several services including: video asset and ground truth management, evaluation services that handle algorithm submission and evaluation report generation, workers that will run evaluation tasks. These services will communicate over an advanced message queue processing.

Description
===========
The intern will take part in the design of the platform and the development of its components. He/she will learn how to use cutting edge technology in web application development such as messaging, nosql database, remote processing call, ...

A good knowledge of web application development, software design, and dynamic languages including JavaScript, ruby, python and C++ are required. A background on computer vision will be helpful but not mandatory.
